2nd Grade TAG Learns About Chemical Bonding! ; )

On Friday Oct. 22nd, the group of 2nd Grade TAG students met in the Art classroom and began creating books about themselves (Kindergarten and First Grade students are doing this too!).
While they were working they each created their very own bag of "Glarch".  It's made with equal parts of Liquid Starch and Elmer's Glue and is colored with food coloring or tempera paint.
Students learned about how both liquids combined and "bonded" to create a mass of ooey gooey "glarch", which, if you are familiar with the movie "Flubber" is much like that substance.  It becomes a slick wet mass that can be shaped and molded, but is very elastic and nebulous when left alone.
This is always a favorite amongst the students each year!
Next week we will work on their books and take photos with Photo Booth Application on our computers!
